The decade-long losing streak of
Columbia (Huntsville, Ala.) hit 100 games Friday night as the Eagles fell 61-22 to
Jasper.
The last time Columbia tasted victory was Oct. 16, 2015 when it beat
Ardmore 34-16.
On Friday, Jasper (7-2) set the tone early with a 50-yard touchdown run by
Micah Pledger on the second play from scrimmage.
Zion Coger added three first-half touchdowns as the Vikings held a 34-14 lead at halftime.

had a 91-yard rushing touchdown to get Columbia on the board at the end of the first quarter. The Eagles also had a 70-yard pick-six in the second to bring the score to 27-14.
Columbia (0-9) ate up more than five minutes to open the third quarter with a drive that resulted in an 8-yard Dunnigan score and two-point conversion to make it 34-22. But Jasper responded with 27 unanswered points to slam the door shut.
Led by former NFL wide receiver Sammie Coates, Columbia has come closer to victory this season than in years past. On Sept. 26, the Eagles fell 28-24 to
East Lawrence (Trinity).
Coates took over the team in the spring. As he worked to turn around
the program's fortunes, a documentary film crew has been following the
team all season as the Eagles look to break the decade-long streak.
